From Br Steve Hogan fsc
Greetings,

Special greetings to all fathers as we celebrate Father鈥檚 Day on Sunday 7th September. Fatherhood is a special ministry (as is motherhood). On Friday 5th September, the College celebrates fathers with a Year 8 Father-son game of touch football, starting at 7:00am also in recognition of Jersey Day, followed by a BBQ then Mass in the Chapel at 8:00-8:30am.
St John Baptist de La Salle formed the first Brothers of the Institute by using father and mother as a metaphor, encouraging the Brothers to have the gentleness of a mother and firmness of a father. The student teacher relationship in a Lasallian school is modelled on the special role and relationship a father and mother have with their children.
St John Baptist de La Salle describes God the Father very much as he saw his own father and the ministry of fatherhood. Fatherhood is an important ministry which we need to cherish and respect, show gratitude for and celebrate. Let us not forget to pray for fathers, especially this Father鈥檚 Day.
This week, Year 6, 7, 8 and 9 completed their Allwell assessment. The Allwell assessment allows the College, parents and students themselves to track progress over time. The first target for us all is to ensure age-appropriate year-on-year growth, the second is to extend all students to the best of their ability. Additionally, Year 12 students have received most of their Trial Exam results this week. These results will indicate areas of competence but also content areas and skills that need further development. These trial exams are just that, trials. With three months to go, I encourage Year 12 to reset, take stock from the data given, and work hard toward their goal. Anything and everything is possible with three months before the final exams and that is the exam that counts, that is the time to peak, for everyone鈥檚 sake not just their own, due to the moderating and scaling effect.
In commending the pursuit of excellence in various domains, I congratulate staff and students for their accomplishments in the recent Performing Arts Showcase and the Visual Arts, Design Technology and Industrial Technology Showcase next week. I also congratulate students for their achievements in ISA winter sports with the following winning the Championship Title:
7 Boys Football teams
3 Girls Netball teams
3 Tennis teams
And in particular the Girls First Netball and the First Tennis teams, ISA Champions. Rugby finals will be held on Saturday 30th August with 11 out of 20 teams in the finals.

缅北强奸鈥檚 purpose as a Lasallian school is to educate, touch hearts, and transform lives, forming good sons and daughters, good men and women - good citizens - mindful of a better future for all, and to do this the best we can. On Thursday 28th August as part of the Mission Action Day (MAD) program, the College hosted Paulie Stewart OAM, an alumni of De La Salle Malvern, from Painters and Dockers fame, whose brother was one of the Balibo Five journalists killed in Timor Leste in 1975. Mr Stewart spoke of his subsequent journey of service in Timor Leste which touched us all immensely. This has made us all committed to make sure MAD 2025 will be a generous testament to our call to service to help students in Pakistan and Papua New Guinea with fresh clean water, new clean toilets and learning resources from the funds we will raise.
I would like to thank all the wonderful young men and woman at 缅北强奸 who are kind and polite in school, at home and in the community; all those that wear our uniform correctly and with pride; who refrain from swearing or slang; who offer a smile or a hand in assistance. The goodness and kindness of each of you forms the reputation that assists all of us. Thank you for your goodness and kindness 鈥 help each other to help each other. Kindness is underestimated yet goes a long way to building peace, harmony and a better world for all.
